I am a (previously) published author now writing a novel that has a segment set in Nov. 1934 to May 1935. Were there steamboats (names - please) at that time traveling from Louisville, Ky. to New Orleans, La.? Would one change (boats) when the Ohio met the Mississippi? I understand that there were runs to NOLA for Mardi Gras but that the depression might have curtailed this activity. How long would such a trip have taken? Any, and all, help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I just discovered your web site. You might notice that I am a Captain. I pilot 2 replicas, the Bahia Belle, vintage 1941 and the William D. Evans. I have become quite fond of both of these. Our passangers, those aboard for entertainment, private parties, brunch or to see fireworks in the Summer months are always fascinated with these beautiful replicas and keep coming back. The smaller of the 2, the Bahia Belle, is certified for 200 guests and the larger, the William D. Evans, can carry up to 600 passanger. The Wm. D., has a stained glass ceiling over the 2nd. deck that has over 36,000 pieces of stained glass. Come see them both at the Bahia Resort on Mission Bay, San Diego, CA

I really enjoy your website. I use it as reference source on the boats I see on the Ohio River.
I have a lot of pictures of the Delta Queen up on my Photostream on flickr during its visits this summer to the Wheeling area. I hope to submit some of them to your wonderful site.

Great Site. my dad Capt. Billy Clark and his brother Capt. D H Clark ran the Pamela D up on the ohio and mississippi rivers for years. Some of my greatest childhood memories were riding my dads boat on the ohio...and later working as a deckhand. Thanks for the memories...
